Stretching from Montélimar to Avignon, the Southern Rhône Valley spans nearly 200 kilometers, offering a luminous landscape of garrigue, olive trees, and sun-drenched vineyards. This wine region is a true mosaic of terroirs — alluvial plains, limestone hillsides, sandy soils, and rolled pebbles. The warm, dry Mediterranean climate, combined with the Mistral wind, shapes powerful, aromatic wines with great authenticity.
The Southern Rhône is home to many prestigious appellations: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cairanne, Rasteau, Lirac, Tavel, Beaumes-de-Venise, and the vast Côtes du Rhône Villages.
Southern Rhône wines are defined by the art of blending, the region’s true signature.
These three varieties form the famous “GSM” blend (Grenache – Syrah – Mourvèdre). White wines are made from Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, and Bourboulenc, producing floral, generous, and often sun-filled wines. Rosés, particularly those from Tavel, are fresh, aromatic, and gastronomic.
The red wines are defined by their generosity, roundness, and Mediterranean aromas: garrigue, thyme, pepper, ripe fruits, fig, and sometimes chocolate or licorice. On the palate, they combine warmth, density, and silkiness, while retaining refreshing lift thanks to the Mistral wind.
White wines display creamy textures and aromas of white flowers, honey, and yellow fruits. Rosés express liveliness and bright aromatics.
The geological diversity here is exceptional: rolled pebbles in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, marl and limestone in Gigondas, sandy soils in Vacqueyras, and clay-limestone in Rasteau. This patchwork of soils, combined with record sunshine and a constant wind, provides perfect conditions for optimal ripeness.
Winemakers focus on preserving freshness and balance — essential to the elegance of Southern Rhône wines.
The Southern Rhône is a land of light and fragrance, where vines thrive to the rhythm of sun and wind. Its wines reflect the generosity of the climate and the diversity of the terroirs, offering rich, sunlit, and sincere expressions — the soul of the South of France in a glass.
