Terroir & Grape Varieties

The vineyard of Château Rayas faces northeast, benefiting from a natural freshness that imparts rare tension and elegance to the wines. The exclusively sandy soils — without any galets roulés — allow Grenache Noir to express itself with crystalline finesse, bringing both delicacy and depth. Most of the vines are planted to Grenache Noir for the reds, complemented by Grenache Blanc and Clairette for the whites. This singular and protected terroir gives birth to wines of unmistakable personality.

Viticulture & Winemaking

Viticulture is carried out with the utmost respect for nature: no chemical inputs, extremely low yields, and meticulous care for each cluster. Harvesting is done manually, and the grapes are vinified as whole clusters without destemming. Fermentations are long and spontaneous, relying solely on native yeasts. Aging takes place in very old foudres and tanks, with no new oak, preserving the pure expression of the fruit and its terroir.

Château Rayas Rouge: A delicately translucent robe and a radiant aromatic profile of fresh cherry, wild strawberry, fine herbs, and gentle spices. The palate seduces with its silky texture, mineral tension, and vibrant, almost weightless length. This luminous and timeless wine reveals itself fully after 8 years and can age harmoniously for up to 30 years in great vintages.
