Domaine Jamet — The pure, granite expression of Côte-Rôtie

A true pillar of Côte-Rôtie, Domaine Jamet has embodied for several decades one of the noblest expressions of Northern Rhône Syrah. Based on the hillsides above Ampuis, the estate has become a world reference through a classical, artisanal and deeply faithful vision of the appellation’s historic slopes.

Guided by Jean-Paul and Corinne Jamet, and now continued by the next generation with Loïc Jamet, the domaine pursues an immediately recognisable style: floral, peppery, long-lined and profound wines, where concentration never overtakes finesse, aromatic transparency and the energy of place.

The spirit of the estate

Jamet embodies a classical, vibrant and unforced vision of Côte-Rôtie. The estate seeks balance above all: expressive yet never heavy Syrah, structured yet silky, shaped by schist, gneiss, steep terraces and a vinification that respects both fruit and terroir.

Terroir and winemaking

The domaine works a mosaic of parcels spread across the steep slopes of Côte-Rôtie, between Côte Brune, Côte Blonde and several historic lieux-dits. This diversity of origins allows the estate to craft wines of great complexity, with each sector contributing its own nuance of perfume, structure, depth and length.

The vines are rooted in soils of schist, gneiss and granite-based rock. These spectacular slopes, cultivated almost entirely by hand, give birth to Syrah wines of remarkable relief, marked by violet, pepper, black olive, graphite, fresh dark fruit and the cool stony imprint so typical of great Northern Rhône wines.

Winemaking remains faithful to the estate’s spirit: manual harvesting, careful sorting, a high proportion of whole clusters depending on the cuvée and vintage, long fermentations and extended ageing in older barrels. Oak remains discreet, serving only to accompany the wine without masking the brightness of the fruit or the personality of the slopes.

Emblematic cuvées

Côte-Rôtie is the domaine’s signature cuvée, produced from a blend of several parcels. It captures the Jamet style in its most complete form: floral finesse, aromatic depth, silky tannins and outstanding cellaring potential.

Côte-Rôtie “Fructus Voluptas” offers a more immediate, juicy and accessible expression of Syrah, while preserving the elegance and precision that define the estate.

Côte-Rôtie “Côte Brune” represents a rare selection, deeper and more mineral in profile, with noble structure and remarkable ageing potential.

Côtes-du-Rhône offers a more direct and generous reading of the Jamet style, with pure fruit, excellent drinkability and a sincere expression of place.

IGP Syrah Collines Rhodaniennes provides a refined introduction to the Jamet universe, in a floral, precise and accessible register.

Cellaring and food pairings

The great Côte-Rôtie wines of Domaine Jamet have remarkable ageing potential, often fifteen to twenty-five years depending on the vintage. In their youth, they benefit from measured aeration; with maturity, they develop notes of faded violet, fine leather, truffle, black olive, sweet spices and delicate smoke. Their finesse pairs beautifully with roast pigeon, lamb, duck, fine game, noble mushrooms, truffle, reduced jus and subtly peppered cuisine.
