Soldera – Case Basse — The Absolute Myth of Sangiovese in Montalcino

Soldera – Case Basse is one of the most mythical estates in Montalcino. Founded by Gianfranco Soldera in the early 1970s, it has become a radical, pure and deeply personal interpretation of Sangiovese.

Located in southwestern Montalcino, Case Basse is built on an uncompromising vision: low yields, extreme selection, natural fermentations, long ageing and a search for a limpid expression of place. Produced in very limited quantities, the wines are among Italy’s most sought-after bottles.

The spirit of the estate

A Sangiovese of purity, depth and patience. Soldera seeks terroir transparency, natural harmony and the ability of wine to cross decades without losing energy.

Style and cuvées

Soldera’s wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese. Its style is neither demonstrative nor modern in the conventional sense: it is aerial, profound, floral and spicy, with remarkable acidity, fine tannins and exceptional length. The bottles often need time to reveal their full complexity.

Soldera Toscana IGP: the estate’s current expression, 100% Sangiovese, long-aged, with great floral, spicy and mineral purity.

Brunello di Montalcino Soldera: former cuvées that have become mythical and are now highly sought after by collectors.

In summary: Soldera – Case Basse is an icon of Montalcino, dedicated to a pure, rare and uncompromising expression of Sangiovese.

Dominant aromas: red cherry, sour cherry, rose, violet, blood orange, tobacco, spice, fine earth, leather, black tea and a long saline finish.
