Côte-Rôtie Côte Blonde 2019 — Domaine René Rostaing
This Côte-Rôtie Côte Blonde 2019 from Domaine René Rostaing embodies one of the most refined and sought-after expressions of the appellation. Sourced from the mythical Côte Blonde sector, it combines the depth of Syrah, the floral finesse of the terroir and the silky texture that defines the greatest age-worthy Côte-Rôtie wines.
The 2019 vintage gives here a wine of remarkable intensity, at once concentrated, vibrant and elegant. The substance is deep, the tannins precise, and the balance between dark fruit, violet, spice, smoke, minerality and Northern Rhône freshness points to a very fine evolution in the cellar.
Terroir: Côte Blonde, granitic finesse and Syrah elegance
The Côte Blonde is one of the most emblematic sites in Côte-Rôtie. Its steep, poor and highly mineral slopes produce wines of great aromatic finesse, often more floral, more silky and more immediately sensual than those from the more austere sectors of the appellation.
The style of Domaine René Rostaing is built around balance, precision and terroir transparency. The ageing remains measured in order to preserve fruit purity, mineral energy and the natural nobility of Syrah.
Tasting notes
Appearance: dark red with purple and violet reflections, dense, brilliant and still very youthful in its brightness.
Nose: highly perfumed, with black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, violet, blue fruits, liquorice, pepper, spice, smoked bacon, warm stone and a very elegant floral touch. With aeration, nuances of graphite, black olive, cocoa and fine smoke may appear.
Palate: deep, vibrant and silky, with concentrated substance held in perfect balance. The tannins are fine, freshness lengthens the palate, and the finish is long, floral, spicy and mineral, with impressive authority.
