Domaine Jamet – Côte-Rôtie 2023
A benchmark Côte-Rôtie combining power and finesse, where Syrah reveals its full complexity through dark fruits, smoky notes, and refined floral elegance.
Terroir & Winemaking
Located in Ampuis, Domaine Jamet farms vines across numerous emblematic parcels of the appellation, spanning both the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde sectors. Schist and mica-schist soils contribute structure and depth, while lighter gneiss soils bring finesse and floral lift, resulting in a wine of remarkable balance.
Vinified using traditional methods, with hand harvesting and a proportion of whole clusters, the wine is aged in oak barrels with moderate use of new wood. This artisanal approach preserves fruit purity, terroir precision, and the natural elegance of Syrah.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
Complex and refined, showing blackberry, blackcurrant, and black cherry, layered with floral notes of violet, hints of black pepper, and subtle smoky and cured meat nuances — hallmarks of great Côte-Rôtie terroirs.
Palate:
Silky and precise on the attack, with an elegant structure and fine tannins. The balance between ripe fruit, freshness, and schist-driven minerality reveals flavors of dark berries, spice, graphite, and a delicate smoked meat nuance.
Finish:
Long and harmonious, marked by floral and spicy notes with a subtle saline lift. A classic, poised Côte-Rôtie with excellent aging potential.
