Rully 1er Cru “Rabourcé” 2020 — Domaine de Villaine
The Rully 1er Cru “Rabourcé” 2020 from Domaine de Villaine is a fine white Burgundy from the Côte Chalonnaise, produced from one of Rully’s warmest Premier Cru sites. Made from Chardonnay, it shows the estate’s precise and understated style, combining ripe fruit, texture and a naturally fresh, saline finish.
In the 2020 vintage, Rabourcé reveals a generous and luminous profile: ripe white fruit, apricot, candied pineapple, fresh butter, subtle oak, citrus and a clear mineral impression. The palate has volume and roundness, yet remains lifted by freshness, fine bitters and a long, mouth-watering finish.
Rabourcé, a warm Premier Cru site in Rully
The Rabourcé climat is one of Rully’s notable white Premier Cru vineyards. At Domaine de Villaine, it stands out for its warmer exposure, white clay soils and ability to produce wines with more flesh and generosity than some of the estate’s other Rully sites, while retaining the limestone freshness that defines the best wines of the area.
The wine is aged in a combination of large oak casks, barrels and demi-muids, bringing texture and depth without excessive oak influence. The style remains faithful to the domaine’s philosophy: ripe fruit, balance, clarity and a precise expression of place, with a finish that gains tension as the wine opens.
Tasting notes
Appearance: pale golden yellow, bright and clear, with slightly deeper reflections showing the ripeness of the vintage.
Nose: expressive and already complex, with ripe white fruit, pear, peach, apricot, candied pineapple, ripe lemon and fresh butter. With air, subtle oak, almond, warm stone and delicate pastry notes appear.
Palate: full, supple and well built, with generous fruit held together by citrus freshness. The finish is saline, lightly bitter and very mouth-watering, combining yellow fruit, citrus, mineral notes and a touch of gentle spice.
