Château Rayas Réservé 2012
One of the most legendary wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, crafted predominantly from Grenache and celebrated for its extraordinary elegance, aromatic finesse and remarkable depth.
Terroir & parcels
The vineyards of Château Rayas are located in the north-eastern sector of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, surrounded by woodland that creates a slightly cooler microclimate compared with many other sites in the region. This distinctive environment contributes greatly to the refined and elegant style that defines Rayas wines.
Unlike many Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards known for their famous rounded stones (galets roulés), the soils at Rayas consist mainly of fine sandy soils. These sandy soils provide excellent natural drainage and allow the Grenache grape to express exceptional purity and aromatic complexity, producing wines that are both delicate and intensely expressive.
The Réservé cuvée is produced largely from old-vine Grenache grown at very low yields. Traditional winemaking techniques and aging in large oak foudres preserve the wine’s purity while allowing it to develop depth and complexity. The 2012 vintage offers a beautiful balance of ripeness, freshness and structure.

Nose:
Highly complex and perfumed, with aromas of raspberry, red cherry and wild strawberry, complemented by notes of dried rose, Provençal herbs, sweet spices and a delicate hint of black tea.
Palate:
Silky and refined, with very fine tannins and an exceptionally graceful texture. Layers of fresh red fruits, floral nuances and gentle spice unfold with remarkable balance and elegance, a signature of the Rayas style.
Finish:
Long, subtle and harmonious, marked by freshness, delicate spice and lingering red fruit notes. A noble and distinctive wine capable of evolving beautifully for decades.
