Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg — Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy
Finesse, lineage, and precision
Founded in the 1930s in Vosne-Romanée by Dr. Georges Mugneret, Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg has become one of the most discreet yet admired jewels of the Côte de Nuits. After the passing of Georges Mugneret, his daughters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée Mugneret took over the domaine with exemplary dedication and a clear vision. Their approach blends Burgundian tradition, technical precision, and timeless elegance. The wines stand out for their remarkable aromatic purity, silken texture, and faithful expression of terroir.
Viticulture & Winemaking
The estate practices sustainable viticulture, respecting the natural balance of the soils and the vine’s vegetative cycle.
- Traditional soil ploughing,
- Low yields to preserve concentration,
- Manual harvesting to ensure optimal fruit selection.
Fermentations are natural, with gentle and controlled extractions to maintain the delicacy of Pinot Noir. Aging lasts 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new wood (generally 15–30%). No fining or filtration is carried out, preserving the wines’ aromatic integrity and finesse.
Wine Style
The Mugneret-Gibourg style is immediately recognizable for its delicacy, crystalline purity, and harmonious balance.
- Subtle aromas of ripe red fruits, gentle spices, dried flowers, and forest floor,
- Silky texture, perfectly balanced acidity, melted tannins,
- Saline finishes that enhance length, precision, and tension.
Each cuvée embodies Burgundian elegance with refinement and reveals the distinctive identity of its climat.
