Fortuna Terrae Adrianna Vineyard 2012 — Catena Zapata
This Fortuna Terrae Adrianna Vineyard 2012 from Catena Zapata expresses a deep, refined and mineral-driven side of Argentine Malbec. Sourced from Adrianna Vineyard in the Uco Valley, it combines dark fruit intensity, high-altitude freshness and precise structure in a style that is dense, elegant and remarkably well defined.
Terroir: Adrianna Vineyard, Andean altitude and the depth of Malbec
Adrianna Vineyard, located in the Uco Valley, is one of Catena Zapata’s most emblematic high-altitude terroirs. Cool conditions, intense sunlight and predominantly calcareous soils give Malbec a distinctive expression: ripe fruit, natural tension, fine texture and a pronounced mineral character.
The 2012 vintage now shows a more polished and nuanced expression, where the wine’s original fruit power is joined by deeper notes of graphite, spice, cocoa, fine earth and violet. The overall impression remains energetic, with a structured, deep and persistent palate.
Tasting notes
Appearance: deep purple with garnet reflections, dense and brilliant, still showing fine intensity.
Nose: precise and deep, with blackberry, cassis, black plum, black cherry, violet, cocoa, gentle pepper and graphite. With aeration, notes of fine earth, dried herbs, liquorice and dark spices begin to emerge.
Palate: dense, upright and velvety, with ripe dark fruit, polished tannins and high-altitude freshness that maintains balance. The finish is long, mineral and lightly spicy, with an impression of controlled depth and great precision.
Fruit: blackberry, cassis, black plum, black cherry, ripe dark fruits.
Flowers and spices: violet, gentle pepper, dark spices, cocoa, liquorice.
