Nose: Deep and expressive: expect aromas of dark cherry, morello cherry, blackberry, joined by graphite, subtle underbrush or forest floor, a hint of violet, and maybe orange peel or blood orange citrus edge. Also a mineral dimension: crushed stone, limestone, perhaps a whiff of smoke or pencil lead.
Palate: Medium to fuller body for Fixin 1er Cru; the tannins are firm, dense, maybe a little angular in youth but likely to soften. Acidity fairly lively, giving freshness, particularly in mid‑palate. The minerality (stony/limestone) comes through strongly and accentuates the structure. Oak likely present, maybe a fair amount of new oak (see below), giving spice, vanilla, toast, possibly a smoky or cedar character, but (hopefully) well integrated. Finish: long, with grip, depth, lingering dark fruit, mineral persistence, maybe a savory or slightly spicy tail.
