This 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru “Combe d’Orveau” from Domaine Anne Gros is a stellar example of what makes Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits so revered. Situated near the border with the Grand Cru vineyard of Musigny, the Combe d’Orveau parcel offers exceptional terroir, combining cool microclimates and limestone-rich soils.
The wine is crafted from old-vine Pinot Noir using traditional Burgundian methods: manual harvesting, natural fermentation, and aging in French oak barrels (typically 30–50% new). The result is a refined, aromatic Pinot Noir with notes of wild strawberry, violet, rose petal, and a touch of spice and earth.
On the palate, it’s silky and layered, with delicate tannins, vibrant acidity, and a lingering, mineral-driven finish. While already charming in its youth, this wine will reward careful cellaring for 8–15 years.
