Maison Louis Jadot — The Classic Elegance of Burgundy
Founded in 1859 in Beaune, Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most prestigious and respected names in Burgundy. Owned by the Kopf family since 1985, this historic house embodies a demanding vision of winemaking: combining Burgundian tradition, technical mastery and thoughtful innovation. With nearly 270 hectares of vineyards spread across Burgundy’s greatest terroirs — from the Côte d’Or to the Mâconnais and the Beaujolais — it stands as one of the most complete and influential signatures in the region.
A Founding Heritage
The story begins in 1826 with the acquisition of Clos des Ursules, a Premier Cru parcel in Beaune that has become one of the house’s crown jewels. Over the following decades, Louis Jadot expanded its holdings through the integration of iconic estates such as:
- Château des Jacques (Beaujolais)
- Domaine Ferret (Pouilly-Fuissé, Mâconnais)
Under the current leadership of Thomas Seiter, successor to Pierre-Henry Gagey, the Maison continues its commitment to excellence and respect for Burgundy’s climats.
Terroirs and Philosophy
Deeply rooted in the authentic expression of terroir, Maison Louis Jadot cultivates parcels in some of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations:
- Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
- Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
- Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
- Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules
This diversity is at the heart of their philosophy: environmentally respectful viticulture, precise parcel-by-parcel vinification and tailored ageing. To further refine their craft, Louis Jadot created its own cooperage, Tonnellerie Cadus, allowing each barrel to be adapted to the character of the specific terroir and vintage.
