Échezeaux Grand Cru 2012 — Domaine Louis Jadot
This Échezeaux Grand Cru 2012 from Domaine Louis Jadot, offered here in a case of 6 bottles, expresses all the perfumed richness and structure of one of the emblematic Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits. Sourced from parcels in Les Rouges du Bas, it offers a broad, deep and spicy reading of Pinot Noir: dark red cherry, plum, cassis, menthol, liquorice, new leather, earth, game, spice and a long, firm and velvety finish.
A historic Beaune house, Louis Jadot owns and vinifies some of Burgundy’s finest terroirs with a classical approach, aiming to respect the identity of each climat. The Échezeaux 2012 stands out for its depth, breadth on the palate and controlled power. This is a dense, still serious Grand Cru that needs time to fully express its complexity, yet its substance and length already point to excellent ageing potential.
An Échezeaux of depth, volume and patience, more powerful than light, yet preserving the noble perfume of its terroir. The 2012 combines black and red fruit, spice, menthol, new leather, earthy and gamey notes, with a rich, velvety, concentrated and structured palate. It is an age-worthy Grand Cru, built on density, texture and a very persistent finish.
Terroir: Échezeaux, the great diversity of Flagey-Échezeaux
Échezeaux is a Grand Cru located in the commune of Flagey-Échezeaux, between Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot and Grands-Échezeaux. The appellation is large for a Burgundian Grand Cru and is composed of several climats, which explains the diversity of its expressions. The finest Échezeaux wines combine the spicy perfume of Vosne, the broad texture of the Côte de Nuits and a structure capable of long ageing.
Louis Jadot’s cuvée comes from parcels in Les Rouges du Bas, a sector known for producing deep, complete and structured wines. Pinot Noir here expresses cherry, black fruits, cassis, plum, spice, earth and a strongly marked velvety dimension. In the 2012 vintage, natural concentration reinforces the wine’s power, while freshness maintains balance and tension.
Terroir expression: Pinot Noir, Échezeaux Grand Cru, Les Rouges du Bas, dark cherry, plum, cassis, spice, menthol, earth, new leather, firm tannins and velvety texture.
Louis Jadot signature: classical vinification, respect for the climat, age-worthy structure, deep fruit, present yet integrated ageing, power and length.

Expression of the 2012 vintage
The 2012 vintage in Burgundy produced wines that are often concentrated, intense and structured, with serious substance resulting from limited yields. In Louis Jadot’s Échezeaux, the year produced a rich, broad, very deep and still firm wine, with strong tannic presence and great capacity for evolution. Critics underline its power, volume, velvety texture and need for extended ageing.
Today, this Échezeaux Grand Cru 2012 is beginning to enter a more complex phase, yet remains a wine of patience. A fine bottle can already offer a deep bouquet of black fruits, spice, leather, earth and menthol, but the structure retains firmness that will continue to integrate. With time, the wine should develop more forest floor, truffle, melted spice, fine leather, noble earth and floral complexity.
In summary: a deep, powerful and velvety Échezeaux Grand Cru 2012, sourced from parcels in Les Rouges du Bas, with serious structure and remarkable ageing potential.
Dominant aromas: dark red cherry, plum, cassis, black fruits, menthol, liquorice, new leather, earth, game, violet, spice, forest floor and a long firm finish.
