Château Mouton Rothschild 1998 — Pauillac
This Château Mouton Rothschild 1998 offers a classical, deep and refined expression of Pauillac. As one of the Médoc’s emblematic First Growths, Mouton Rothschild delivers in this vintage a serious and structured wine, shaped by the nobility of Cabernet Sauvignon, the precision of deep gravel soils and the naturally Médoc elegance of the estate.
The 1998 vintage now develops a refined profile of blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry, cedar, graphite, pencil lead, blond tobacco, liquorice, cocoa, fine leather, sweet spices and notes of undergrowth. The palate is broad, focused and persistent, with tannins now more softened, fine freshness and a long, mineral and gently spiced finish. It is an elegant, mature and deeply Pauillac Mouton.
Terroir: Pauillac, deep gravel soils and the nobility of Cabernet Sauvignon
The great gravel rises of Pauillac provide Cabernet Sauvignon with an ideal environment to express structure, aromatic depth and ageing capacity. At Château Mouton Rothschild, this identity gives rise to powerful, precise and long-lived wines, combining dark fruit, mineral freshness, noble tannins and a clearly defined Médoc character. The 1998 vintage highlights a serious, balanced and already beautifully evolved expression of the estate.

Expression of the 1998 vintage
The 1998 vintage in Bordeaux produced wines of fine structure, with particularly strong results on the Right Bank, but also very balanced expressions from the great Médoc terroirs. In Pauillac, Château Mouton Rothschild 1998 now speaks in a classical, serious and refined register, combining depth of fruit, emerging tertiary complexity and freshness still clearly present.
