Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2011
A prestigious Blanc de Blancs Champagne, Comtes de Champagne 2011 showcases the chalky nobility of the Côte des Blancs in a style that is both generous, precise, mineral and built for long aging.
Terroir & parcels
This cuvée is produced exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from the five Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. This narrow stretch of vineyards is one of the most prestigious terroirs for Chardonnay in Champagne.
The presence of chalk-rich soils is essential: they act as a natural reservoir for water and heat, ensuring even ripening and giving the wine its signature minerality, precision and aromatic finesse. Only the cuvée (the purest juice) is selected for the blend.
The 2011 vintage, marked by early ripening and a dry spring, produced a particularly expressive wine. Around 5% of the wines were aged for 4 months in new oak barrels, followed by approximately 10 years of lees aging, enhancing complexity, texture and aging potential.
Tasting notes
Nose:
Complex and generous, with aromas of gingerbread, licorice and meringue, alongside notes of vine peach, cherimoya, mandarin peel and a delicate hint of almond pastry.
Palate:
Broad, dense and precise, with a strong mineral backbone and a subtle saline character. The generous texture is supported by a chalky structure that brings tension and elegance, while flavors of candied fruit and sweet spices such as anise and coriander add depth.
Finish:
Long, fresh and crystalline, carried by a fine and creamy mousse. The finish combines charm, precision and energy, revealing a Champagne with excellent aging potential and refined complexity.
