Laurent-Perrier — Timeless elegance and crystal-clear freshness

Founded in 1812 in Tours-sur-Marne, at the heart of Champagne, Laurent-Perrier is one of the region’s most emblematic houses. Its identity is built around elegance, purity and freshness, with a style strongly shaped by the central role of Chardonnay in the blends.

Owned by the Nonancourt family since 1939, Laurent-Perrier owes much of its modern identity to Bernard de Nonancourt, a decisive figure of the post-war era. By favouring precision, freshness and balance, he gave the House an immediately recognisable signature: luminous, refined Champagnes of remarkable consistency.

The spirit of the house

Laurent-Perrier embodies a Champagne of clarity, precision and discreet refinement. The House seeks freshness before opulence, balance before power, and purity before stylistic effect. Its wines are defined by fine bubbles, elegant texture, crystalline tension and a naturally graceful finish.

History: two centuries of elegance and innovation

The House was founded in 1812 by André Michel Pierlot in Tours-sur-Marne. In 1939, it was acquired by Marie-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt, before her son Bernard de Nonancourt took over in 1948 and transformed Laurent-Perrier into one of Champagne’s most visionary houses.

Bernard de Nonancourt placed Chardonnay, the art of blending and precise vinification at the heart of the House style. In 1959, Laurent-Perrier created Grand Siècle, a prestige cuvée conceived as the recreation of the balance of an ideal year. Later, Cuvée Alexandra Rosé confirmed the House’s ability to unite rarity, delicacy and technical mastery.

Terroir and grape varieties

Based in Tours-sur-Marne, between the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, Laurent-Perrier draws on a wide network of Champagne crus. The Montagne de Reims brings structure and expressive Pinot Noir, the Côte des Blancs offers the crystalline purity of Chardonnay, while the Vallée de la Marne contributes suppleness and fruit through Meunier.

Chardonnay plays a decisive role in the House identity, bringing finesse, freshness and luminosity. Pinot Noir adds structure and depth, while Meunier supports balance and generosity. Reserve wines, preserved in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, help maintain the consistency and purity of the Laurent-Perrier style.

Vinification: purity, precision and balance

The Laurent-Perrier style is based on precise vinification, designed to preserve fruit brightness, natural freshness and aromatic purity. The use of temperature-controlled stainless steel vats helps maintain great clarity of expression and avoids heaviness in the blends.

The art of blending plays an essential role. Each cuvée seeks a subtle balance between tension, texture and harmony, with particular attention paid to freshness, the finesse of the bubbles and the length of the finish.

Champagne style

Laurent-Perrier Champagnes are distinguished by freshness, finesse and aromatic clarity. They often express notes of citrus, lemon, grapefruit, green apple, pear, white flowers, fine brioche, chalk and fresh almond.

On the palate, the style favours tension, lightness of texture and balance. The great cuvées gain depth with time, developing nuances of dried fruits, delicate honey, fine pastry, candied zest and chalky minerality, while retaining remarkable freshness.

Iconic cuvées

Laurent-Perrier’s range reflects both classical Champagne craftsmanship and the House’s spirit of innovation. La Cuvée expresses its pure, fresh and Chardonnay-led style, while Ultra Brut reveals a sharper, drier and more mineral expression.

Cuvée Rosé is one of Champagne’s most iconic rosés, admired for its precise red fruit, aromatic intensity and elegance. At the summit of the range, Grand Siècle stands as Laurent-Perrier’s prestige cuvée, conceived as the ideal blend of several great vintages.

Rarer still, Cuvée Alexandra Rosé is produced only in exceptional vintages. It represents one of the House’s most refined and confidential expressions.

Ageing and gastronomic pairings

Laurent-Perrier’s classic cuvées are enjoyed in their youth for their brightness and freshness. Prestige cuvées such as Grand Siècle, Cuvée Alexandra Rosé and selected vintage Champagnes can evolve for many years, gaining complexity, depth and texture.

At the table, Laurent-Perrier Champagnes pair beautifully with refined aperitifs, noble fish, shellfish, oysters, poultry, citrus-led cuisine, delicate cheeses and lightly sweet desserts. Grand Siècle pairs particularly well with lobster, turbot, truffled poultry, creamy risotto and gastronomic cuisine.
