Founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch, co-director of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Prieuré Roch embodies a completely free and uncompromising vision of Burgundy’s great wines. Located in Prémeaux-Prissey, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate has become an iconoclastic reference, producing wines that are vibrant, sensual, and profoundly alive.

The vineyard now covers nearly 14 hectares, cultivated under strict biodynamic principles — uncertified but with absolute rigor. Among the jewels of the estate are several monopoles (Clos Goillotte, Clos des Corvées) and exceptional crus in Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin and beyond.

Philosophy & Winemaking

The philosophy of Prieuré Roch is radical: no additives, no compromises. Grapes are harvested by hand, kept in whole clusters, foot-trodden, and fermented with indigenous yeasts. No sulfur is added at any stage, neither during vinification nor bottling. The wines are aged in old oak barrels, with no new wood, over long periods and without intervention.

The result: free, living wines, sometimes disconcerting in their youth, but always endowed with depth, purity, and remarkable individuality.

Style

The wines of Prieuré Roch are instantly recognizable. The Pinot Noirs are intense, sensual, and expressive, revealing aromas of dark fruit, heady flowers, wild herbs, and spices. On the palate, the texture is vibrant and juicy, with silky tannins and lively acidity. The rare whites are deep, slightly oxidative, mineral, and saline.
