Terroir & Philosophy

Sourced from the Bentrock Vineyard in the western part of Santa Rita Hills, this Chardonnay is shaped by a strong maritime influence, with cool winds and fog rolling in from the Pacific Ocean. The soils, composed of marine sediment and diatomaceous earth, contribute to the wine’s tension, saline character and mineral precision.

Sandhi Wines, founded by Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman, follows a minimalist philosophy inspired by Burgundy. Fermentations are carried out with native yeasts, oak is used with restraint, and the focus remains on transparency, allowing the vineyard and vintage to speak clearly.

The 2012 vintage in Santa Rita Hills was particularly well-balanced, offering ideal ripening conditions. It produced wines with both concentration and freshness, giving this Chardonnay precision, harmony and excellent ageing potential.
