Pagodes de Cos 2008 — Saint-Estèphe

This Pagodes de Cos 2008, the second wine of Château Cos d’Estournel, offers an elegant and already evolved expression of Saint-Estèphe. The 2008 vintage highlights freshness, fruit precision and a classic Bordeaux structure, in a style that is more approachable than the grand vin while retaining the depth and spicy signature of the estate’s terroir.

Terroir: Saint-Estèphe, freshness, gravel and classical elegance

Born from the world of Cos d’Estournel, Pagodes de Cos carries part of the identity of this great Saint-Estèphe terroir: gravelly soils, tannic structure, natural freshness and aromatic depth. The wine shows a more supple and immediate expression, while preserving fine balance and character.

The 2008 vintage offers a fresh, upright and refined interpretation of the Médoc. Today, the wine is beginning to reveal evolved nuances of cedar, tobacco, undergrowth and spice, while retaining precise dark fruit and a structured finish.

Tasting notes

Appearance: deep garnet red, brilliant, with slight brick reflections announcing harmonious evolution.

Nose: elegant and expressive, with cassis, blackberry, black cherry, cedar, blond tobacco, sweet spices and a touch of liquorice. With aeration, nuances of undergrowth, fine leather and noble earth begin to appear.

Palate: upright, supple and structured, with melted tannins, dark fruit still present and freshness that extends the balance. The finish is classic, lightly spicy, marked by cedar, tobacco and a fine mineral note.

Aromatic profile

Fruit: cassis, blackberry, black cherry, ripe dark fruits.

Spices and ageing: cedar, blond tobacco, liquorice, sweet spices, fine leather.

Terroir: gravel, undergrowth, noble earth, Saint-Estèphe freshness and a finely mineral finish.

In summary: an elegant, classic and delicately evolved Pagodes de Cos 2008, offering a refined approach to the Cos d’Estournel style in a fresh, precise and highly enjoyable vintage.
