Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux 1998
A prestigious second wine: Margaux elegance, finesse and Bordeaux maturity
Terroir
Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux is the second wine of the renowned First Growth of Margaux. Produced from a rigorous selection of estate parcels, it expresses the identity of Château Margaux’s great deep gravel terroir with elegance: aromatic finesse, silky texture and natural balance.
The 1998 vintage now offers an evolved and harmonious expression of Pavillon Rouge. Defined less by power than by subtlety, it reveals the charm of mature Bordeaux, with softened structure, refined tertiary nuances and the Margaux elegance that distinguishes the wines of the estate.
Tasting notes
Nose:
The bouquet may reveal notes of evolved blackcurrant, black cherry, blond tobacco, cedar, undergrowth, fine leather and gentle spices. The whole expression is delicate, nuanced and marked by the aromatic distinction typical of Margaux wines.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is supple, silky and elegant, with melted tannins and a texture softened by time. The finish lingers on evolved dark fruit, cedar, spice and a discreet floral touch, offering a refined and mature expression of this emblematic second wine.
