Château Margaux 1944
A collectible Margaux First Growth: history, rarity and Bordeaux elegance
Terroir
A First Growth classified in 1855, Château Margaux is one of the most prestigious estates in the Médoc. Its deep gravel terroir, located at the heart of the Margaux appellation, produces wines renowned for their finesse, fragrance and remarkable ability to age with singular nobility.
The 1944 vintage now belongs to the world of very old historic bottles. More than a simple drinking bottle, this Château Margaux 1944 is a rare witness to Bordeaux history, sought after by collectors and wine lovers sensitive to the emotion of old vintages. Given its age, each bottle should be considered with caution, taking into account its condition, fill level and storage history.
Tasting notes
Nose:
Depending on the precise condition of the bottle, the bouquet may evolve towards nuances of undergrowth, blond tobacco, old leather, autumn leaves, gentle spices and dried fruits. The aromatic expression of a wine of this age should be appreciated with delicacy, without expecting the power of a young vintage.
Palate & Finish:
The palate may be fragile, patinated and entirely carried by tertiary nuances. When preservation has been favourable, it offers the discreet charm of great old Bordeaux wines, with a softened texture, delicate substance and a finish marked more by the memory of terroir than by fruit power.
