Château Margaux 1996
A masterful First Growth: precision, depth and absolute elegance
Terroir
A First Growth classified in 1855, Château Margaux embodies one of the noblest and most refined expressions of the Médoc. Its deep, well-draining gravel soils allow Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen slowly and precisely, producing wines of remarkable aromatic finesse, depth and longevity.
The 1996 vintage is regarded as one of Château Margaux’s great achievements. It is marked by a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, a structure of remarkable purity and a freshness that carries the wine with exceptional precision. Today, it offers a majestic expression, still deep, refined and perfectly faithful to the estate’s unique elegance.
Tasting notes
Nose:
The bouquet may reveal notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, cedar, graphite, blond tobacco and fine spices. With age, nuances of noble undergrowth, delicate leather and dried flowers emerge in an expression of great distinction.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is deep, straight and remarkably precise, carried by fine tannins, a fresh framework and a texture of rare elegance. The finish is long, refined and persistent, lingering on dark fruit, cedar, spice, graphite and the floral nobility that defines the greatest vintages of Château Margaux.
