Château de Fieuzal 1979
An old Graves wine: maturity, tertiary charm and smoky elegance
Terroir
Château de Fieuzal is one of the historic estates of the Graves, now part of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Its gravel soils, mixed with clay and sand, produce red wines marked by finesse, structure and the subtle smoky nuance typical of the finest terroirs of the region.
The 1979 vintage now belongs to the world of old collectible Bordeaux bottles. This bottle should be approached with the caution required by mature wines: its appeal lies as much in its age, origin and historical charm as in its possible aromatic expression. For lovers of mature bottles, it offers a patinated and delicate reading of a classic Graves estate.
Tasting notes
Nose:
Depending on bottle condition, the bouquet may suggest notes of blond tobacco, cedar, fine leather, undergrowth, autumn leaves, gentle spices and cold smoke. The expression belongs to a tertiary, discreet and evolved register.
Palate & Finish:
The palate may be supple, fragile and patinated, with melted tannins and a texture softened by time. When preservation has been favourable, the finish reveals the charm of old Graves wines, with smoky notes, spice, leather and discreet elegance.
