Riesling Trocken 2017 — Weingut Daniel & Marta Gantenbein
Riesling Trocken 2017 from Weingut Daniel & Marta Gantenbein is a rare and refined expression of Swiss Riesling. From Graubünden, it combines dry precision, crystalline fruit, alpine freshness and mineral tension, in a straight, luminous and deeply elegant style.
More slender than very solar vintages, the 2017 highlights energy, aromatic purity and textural finesse. The wine reveals notes of ripe lemon, lime, citrus zest, grapefruit, fresh pear, white peach, white flowers, verbena, chalk, warm stone, light smoke and noble petrol nuances.
Gantenbein, a confidential Swiss signature
Daniel & Marta Gantenbein are among Switzerland’s most respected names. The estate is especially sought after for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, yet its Riesling, produced in very limited quantities, remains one of its rarest cuvées.
Here, Riesling is interpreted with restraint and precision. The wine does not seek opulence or exuberance, but a fine balance between ripe fruit, delicate acidity, mineral relief and saline persistence.
Terroir and style
Graubünden offers a luminous alpine setting, with cool nights and marked temperature variation. These conditions encourage aromatic precision, natural freshness and a clear mineral expression.
The 2017 vintage gives here a dry, taut and chiselled Riesling, where ripe citrus remains carried by a vivid line. The whole retains an impression of purity, verticality and great finesse.
Tasting notes
Appearance: pale gold with brilliant reflections, clear, luminous and still lively.
Nose: pure and expressive, with ripe lemon, lime, grapefruit, citrus zest, fresh pear, white peach, white flowers, verbena, chalk, warm stone and light smoke. With aeration, nuances of wax, fine honey and noble petrol may appear.
