Chioso Novo Blanc 2022 from Domaine de Vaccelli is a rare single-parcel white wine from the Ajaccio appellation, in the heart of granitic Corsica. Made from Vermentinu, this confidential cuvée expresses the estate’s signature with remarkable intensity: Mediterranean ripeness, saline energy, mineral relief and great aromatic purity.
Produced from grafted Vermentinu vines, Chioso Novo stands out for its ample yet finely controlled texture, luminous aromatics and long, fresh, deeply gastronomic finish. The 2022 vintage delivers a wine that is already expressive, yet still young, with the structure to gain further complexity after several years in the cellar.
Terroir
Domaine de Vaccelli is located in Cognocoli-Monticchi, in the southern part of the Ajaccio appellation, on slopes of granitic sandy soils deeply shaped by Corsican light, winds and maritime influence. Chioso Novo conveys this origin with great clarity: the poor, well-draining soils bring straight structure, marked salinity and a stony finish, while the Mediterranean climate gives Vermentinu ripe, expressive flesh.
Tasting notes
Appearance: bright pale yellow, with delicate golden reflections highlighting the ripeness of the vintage.
Nose: aromas of ripe lemon, citron, white peach, pear, maquis flowers and fresh almond, followed by notes of warm stone, sea spray, fine brioche and a subtle honeyed nuance.
Palate: ample, precise and highly savoury on the attack. The wine combines volume, saline freshness and granitic energy, with a long finish carried by citrus fruit, white fruits, noble bitters and a fine iodine sensation.
