Aja Donica 2022 from Domaine de Vaccelli is a great Corsican white wine from the Ajaccio appellation, crafted by Gérard Courrèges in the heart of the Taravu valley. This rare single-parcel cuvée expresses the island identity of the estate with remarkable clarity: Mediterranean ripeness, saline freshness, mineral definition and refined aromatic depth.
In the 2022 vintage, the wine stands out for its ample yet finely drawn texture, carried by citrus fruit, white fruits, flowers from the maquis and a persistent stony framework. A high-expression Corsican white, deep without heaviness, built as much for gastronomy as for ageing.
Terroir
Domaine de Vaccelli is located in Cognocoli-Monticchi, in the far south of the Ajaccio appellation. The vines are rooted in granitic sandy soils, in an environment shaped by wind, Mediterranean light and maritime influences. Aja Donica comes from a confidential parcel selection, where poor, draining soils give the wine a straight structure, pronounced salinity and a particularly clear energy on the finish.
Tasting notes
Appearance: bright pale yellow, with fine golden reflections suggesting a Mediterranean white wine of notable concentration.
Nose: aromas of ripe lemon, citron, pear, white peach, dried flowers, fresh almond and herbs from the maquis, with nuances of warm stone, sea spray and a delicate honeyed touch.
Palate: ample, precise and highly savoury, balanced by remarkable saline freshness. The wine combines volume, tension, granitic minerality and aromatic length, with a persistent finish on citrus fruit, white fruits, noble bitters and a fine iodine note.

Expression of the vintage
The 2022 vintage brings expressive ripeness to Aja Donica without weakening the wine’s saline backbone. Already appealing today for its brightness and persistence, this white wine will gain further complexity with a few years in the cellar, developing notes of almond, fine wax, candied citrus and dried herbs.
