Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2014 — Grand Cru Champagne with Gift Box

The Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2014 is one of Champagne’s great prestige cuvées, produced exclusively from Chardonnay grown in the finest Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs. Presented here with its original gift box, this vintage combines the chalky purity of Blanc de Blancs with the depth and refinement gained through long ageing in the cellars of the Maison.

The 2014 vintage offers a particularly elegant expression of Comtes de Champagne: less opulent than the warmest years, but beautifully precise, with mineral tension, fine bubbles and a creamy texture that reflects the nobility of great Champagne Chardonnay. It is already highly seductive today, while retaining excellent potential for further development.

Terroir

Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively from Chardonnay grown in five Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. These chalk-rich terroirs give the wine its natural finesse, freshness, vertical structure and delicate saline minerality.

Taittinger seeks here a noble and refined expression of Chardonnay. The selection is rigorous, the style precise and luminous, with an emphasis on purity of fruit, fine mousse and the airy elegance that has made Comtes de Champagne one of the most admired Blanc de Blancs cuvées in Champagne.

Tasting notes

The colour is bright pale gold, lifted by a fine and persistent stream of bubbles. The nose opens with ripe citrus, preserved lemon, pear, white flowers and chalk, before developing more refined notes of brioche, hazelnut, almond and delicate pastry.

On the palate, the balance between tension and depth is remarkable. The texture is creamy yet never heavy, carried by precise acidity and a long, fresh, chalky and subtly saline finish. With air, the wine gains in amplitude while preserving the luminous elegance that defines Comtes de Champagne.

Aromatic profile

Preserved lemon, pear, white peach, white flowers, chalk, hazelnut, almond, fine brioche and a delicate saline touch.

Expression of the 2014 vintage

The 2014 vintage is defined by freshness, energy and measured ripeness. In Comtes de Champagne, it gives a refined and beautifully chiselled Blanc de Blancs, combining chalky precision, creamy texture and a very pure reading of the Côte des Blancs. It is a vintage of elegance rather than excess, ideal for lovers of mineral, sophisticated and age-worthy Champagne.

The leading critics agree on the outstanding quality of the 2014 vintage. Antonio Galloni highlights its balance between tension, texture and chalky length; Yohan Castaing emphasises its elegance, saline drive and penetrating finish; James Suckling points to its refined fruit, nutty complexity and harmony between freshness and maturity. Together, these reviews confirm a Comtes de Champagne of very high calibre, already expressive yet clearly built for ageing.

In summary

A great prestige Blanc de Blancs Champagne, produced exclusively from Grand Cru Chardonnay, in a precise, elegant and highly acclaimed vintage. A refined bottle for a special occasion, a prestigious gift or several more years of careful cellaring.

Food pairing: oysters, langoustines, lobster, scallops, turbot, sole meunière, Bresse chicken with cream, mushroom risotto and aged Comté cheese.
