La Grande Dame 1995 – Veuve Clicquot
The prestige cuvée of Veuve Clicquot, La Grande Dame 1995 expresses a broad, noble and fully evolved interpretation of Champagne. Driven by the structure of Pinot Noir and the finesse of Chardonnay, it now reveals refined maturity, depth and gastronomic elegance.
Box:
Original presentation box gently marked by time, in keeping with the age of the vintage, while the bottle remains in excellent condition.
Terroir & Philosophy
La Grande Dame is crafted from a selection of the finest Grand Cru villages in Champagne, with a strong emphasis on Pinot Noir, the signature grape of Veuve Clicquot. This dominance gives the wine its structure, vinosity and depth, setting it apart from lighter or purely aperitif-style Champagnes.
The 1995 vintage produced generous, ripe and well-balanced wines, less driven by acidity than 1996 but often more open and accessible with age. Here, the house seeks harmony between power and elegance, with extended ageing allowing tertiary aromas to integrate into a broad, silky texture.
La Grande Dame 1995 embodies a classical vision of great gastronomic Champagne: a wine of depth, texture and evolution, where the nobility of the blend now expresses itself with a distinctly vinous character. It is a bottle shaped as much by time as by terroir.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
The bouquet opens with notes of ripe yellow fruits, stewed apple and candied citrus, evolving into layers of brioche, hazelnut, praline and toasted bread. A Champagne at a beautiful stage of maturity.
Palate:
The attack is smooth, broad and enveloping, before unfolding into a creamy texture with notable depth. The structure remains present, supported by a distinct vinosity and a fully integrated mousse, giving the wine a gastronomic profile.
Finish:
Long, harmonious and gently evolved, the finish extends notes of candied fruit, brioche and soft spices with a sense of calm richness. A mature, elegant and classically styled finish.
