Champagne Suenen — Purity, Tension & Terroir Expression

A benchmark among the new wave of Côte des Blancs grower-producers, Champagne Suenen crafts crystalline, saline-driven Blanc de Blancs that capture the essence of Grand Cru chalk.

Based in Cramant, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, Champagne Suenen embodies a contemporary vision of precision and terroir. Since taking over the family estate in 2008, Aurélien Suenen has gained international acclaim for his ability to channel the purity, tension and saline energy of chalky Grand Cru Chardonnay into refined, vibrant wines.

The vines are rooted in exceptional terroirs in Cramant, Oiry and Chouilly. Cultivated organically (non-certified) with a deep respect for soil health and vine balance, the domaine maintains a deliberately limited production, favoring artisanal precision over volume.

Philosophy & Winemaking

  • Main grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
  • Soils: pure chalk from Côte des Blancs Grand Crus
  • Viticulture: organic, manual work, low yields
  • Fermentation: indigenous yeasts, no malolactic fermentation
  • Aging: stainless steel vats and neutral oak
  • Dosage: Extra Brut, minimal intervention
  • Lees aging: extended, to build texture and depth

This minimalist, terroir-first philosophy results in champagnes that are crystalline, linear and electrically vibrant, with a signature saline precision that lingers long after each sip.
