Domaine Maxime Renaudin — An ambitious new signature from the Languedoc

Founded in 2018, Domaine Maxime Renaudin has quickly become one of the most closely followed young estates in the Hérault. Based around Jonquières, on clay-limestone hillsides, Maxime Renaudin works a small vineyard of around 5 hectares with a clear ambition: to produce deep, precise and sincere Languedoc wines.

Trained alongside demanding growers, notably in the world of La Grange des Pères, Maxime Renaudin uses the IGP Pays de l’Hérault designation as a space of freedom. His reds, mainly based on Syrah, Carignan and Grenache, combine Mediterranean ripeness, terroir freshness and long élevage, without any excessive oak imprint.

The spirit of the estate

Domaine Maxime Renaudin expresses a Languedoc of precision, patience and character. The wines favour deep fruit, firm but polished tannins, spice and mineral freshness, in an artisanal style that is dense but never heavy.

History: a young estate already sought after

Maxime Renaudin settled in 2018 after several formative experiences with recognised winegrowers. From the first vintages, the estate drew attention for its seriousness, limited production and ambitious style, moving beyond the sometimes simplified image of Languedoc red wine.

The approach is based on intentionally small production, careful vinification and a desire to let each grape variety find its place in the final blend. This rarity, combined with rapidly recognised quality, explains the growing interest among fine wine lovers.

Terroir: the clay-limestone hillsides of Jonquières

The vines are located around Jonquières and, depending on the parcels, towards Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian, on clay-limestone soils typical of this part of the Languedoc. The Mediterranean climate brings ripeness and intensity, while the hillside sites and soil balance preserve essential freshness. Syrah, Carignan and Grenache form the core of the domaine.

Expression of place: Languedoc, Hérault, Jonquières, Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian, clay-limestone soils, Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, garrigue, dark fruit, spice and Mediterranean freshness.

Maxime Renaudin signature: deep, spicy and structured reds, built on ripe fruit, long élevage and serious cellaring potential.

Viticulture and winemaking: artisanal precision and long élevage

The estate works with close attention to soils, biodiversity and grape maturity. Harvesting is manual, the grapes are generally fully destemmed, and each variety is vinified separately to preserve its character. Around 24 months of ageing in barrel allows the wines to build slowly, without masking the fruit or the identity of the terroir.

Style of the wines

Maxime Renaudin wines are marked by depth, density and underlying freshness. They evoke blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry, plum, garrigue, pepper, liquorice, cocoa and sweet spice. The palate is broad, structured and silky, with mineral energy balancing the solar power of the Languedoc.

Emblematic cuvées

IGP Pays de l’Hérault Rouge: the estate’s main cuvée, a blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache, dense, spicy and built for cellaring.

Carignan: a more parcel-focused micro-cuvée, centred on depth, energy and the spicy character of old vines.

Tradition: a recent cuvée in the spirit of the estate, built on balance, authenticity and aromatic depth.

Cellaring and food pairings

The wines can evolve for 8 to 15 years, sometimes longer in the best vintages. They pair well with roast lamb, grilled beef, duck, game, braised dishes, Mediterranean cuisine, garrigue herbs, mushrooms, mature cheeses and reduced sauces.
