This 2022 Pays de l’Hérault Rouge from Domaine Maxime Renaudin perfectly captures the spirit of a sun-kissed Languedoc vintage — concentrated, expressive, and balanced by refreshing energy.
A blend of Syrah (40%), Carignan (40%), and Grenache (20%), each variety is vinified separately before an aging period of about 24 months in French oak barrels.
- Nose: Deep and expressive, revealing layers of ripe black fruits (blackberry, black cherry), wild herbs (thyme, rosemary), peppery spices, and a subtle smoky or leathery note that adds complexity.
- Palate: Full-bodied and velvety, with firm yet polished tannins. The dark fruit core is enhanced by Carignan’s structure and the supple richness of Syrah and Grenache. A lively acidity brings balance and prevents heaviness. The oak aging contributes spicy, toasty, and gently vanilla nuances, integrating seamlessly with the fruit.
- Finish: Long and persistent, marked by black fruit, spice, and mineral tones, leaving a refined Mediterranean signature.
A wine of power and finesse, delicious now after decanting, yet capable of evolving beautifully until 2035.
