Based in Romery, Aurélien Lurquin embodies a rare and deeply artisanal vision of grower Champagne. From a tiny vineyard farmed with precision, he crafts parcel-driven cuvées of remarkable purity, shaped by chalky energy, fine texture and a singular expression of the Vallée de la Marne.
Domaine Aurélien Lurquin — Parcel-driven artisan Champagne from Romery
Located in Romery, on the slopes of the Vallée de la Marne, Domaine Aurélien Lurquin belongs to a new generation of confidential Champagne growers whose wines are sought after for their precision, individuality and strong sense of place. Aurélien Lurquin works a very small vineyard, composed of a mosaic of micro-parcels, each approached with a clear focus on identity and balance.
His work is guided by an intuitive reading of the vineyard, demanding viticulture and low-intervention winemaking. The wines favour soil expression, fine texture and aromatic clarity rather than richness or obvious power. Produced in very limited quantities, they offer a distinctive, vibrant and deeply personal interpretation of Champagne.
History and estate philosophy
Aurélien Lurquin is part of a generation of Champagne growers who have brought the parcel, the soil and the artisan gesture back to the centre of their work. After formative experiences in Burgundy and abroad, he returned to Champagne with a clear ambition: to craft wines that express the character of Romery with precision, without artifice or standardisation.
The domaine stands out for its patient, highly detailed approach. Every stage — soil work, harvest, pressing, fermentation and ageing — is designed to preserve the personality of the fruit and the vibration of each place. The result is a collection of rare, often parcel-based Champagnes built on tension, finesse and depth.
Terroir and winemaking
The vineyard covers around 2.3 hectares around Romery, divided into approximately fifteen micro-parcels. This fragmented landscape offers a wide range of nuances: chalk and limestone bring mineral drive, fine sands add aromatic delicacy, while lighter clay soils contribute structure and length. Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are cultivated with a constant search for balance.
Viticulture is carried out in an organic spirit, with careful soil work and a strong respect for the life of the vineyard. In the cellar, fermentations are natural, ageing is long, often on lees, and oak is used with restraint. The wines are shaped slowly, with a focus on precision, texture and the faithful expression of each parcel.
Style of the wines
Aurélien Lurquin’s Champagnes are defined by fine bubbles, a slender profile and impressive aromatic clarity. They do not seek immediate richness, but rather a sense of movement and vibration: taut, finely chiselled wines with silky texture, persistent minerality and often a saline finish.
This precision does not exclude depth. Long ageing brings structure, complexity and a beautifully controlled sense of substance. These are gastronomic Champagnes, suited to refined cuisine, but also contemplative bottles that reveal their full personality with time in the glass.
Emblematic cuvées
| Les Crayères du Levant | An emblematic parcel cuvée, shaped by chalky tension, purity of line and a vibrant, mineral-driven profile. |
| Les Forcières | A deeper, more structured expression, marked by Pinot Noir’s presence, precise fruit and a delicately vinous texture. |
| Saignée de Meunier | A rare and characterful rosé, combining aromatic intensity, lively freshness and refined texture. |
Cellaring and food pairings
Aurélien Lurquin’s Champagnes can be enjoyed young for their brightness, purity and energy, while the finest cuvées gain additional complexity after several years in the cellar. Their natural tension and depth make them particularly well suited to gastronomic pairings: noble fish, shellfish, roasted poultry, iodine-driven cuisine, aged cheeses or delicately truffled dishes.
