Château Mouton Rothschild 1952
A historic Pauillac: Médoc power, rarity and Rothschild prestige
Terroir
Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most celebrated names in Pauillac and the Médoc. Grown on deep gravel soils perfectly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, the estate produces wines known for their intensity, structure and unmistakable personality, combining aristocratic power with aromatic richness.
The 1952 vintage now belongs to the world of great old collectible bottles. It predates Mouton Rothschild’s promotion to First Growth status in 1973, adding further historical interest. At this age, tasting must be approached with caution: bottle condition, fill level and storage history are essential factors.
Tasting notes
Nose:
Depending on preservation, the bouquet may reveal evolved nuances of cedar, tobacco, fine leather, cigar box, undergrowth, old spices and dried dark fruits. The aromatic expression is more about tertiary complexity than youthful fruit brightness.
Palate & Finish:
The palate may show a patinated texture, tannins softened by time and a structure still marked by the Pauillac signature. When the bottle has been well preserved, the finish can express the deep charm of great old Bordeaux wines, with cedar, spice, tobacco and Médoc elegance.
