Pétrus 2008
A legendary Pomerol: depth, velvet texture and the nobility of Merlot
Terroir
Pétrus holds a unique position among the greatest wines of Bordeaux. Located on the Pomerol plateau, the estate owes its singular identity to its deep clay soils, particularly suited to Merlot, producing wines of remarkable density, depth and texture.
The 2008 vintage offers a more classical and refined expression of Pétrus, marked by aromatic precision, measured structure and freshness that beautifully balances the natural richness of the cru. It is a Pomerol of great nobility, less demonstrative than the most solar vintages, yet deeply elegant and built for graceful evolution.
Tasting notes
Nose:
The bouquet may reveal nuances of black plum, ripe cherry, violet, truffle, fine cocoa and gentle spices. The whole expression is defined by great purity, with the aromatic depth typical of the finest Merlot-driven wines of Pomerol.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is broad, velvety and precise, carried by exceptionally fine tannins and deep substance without heaviness. The finish lingers elegantly on dark fruit, spice, truffle and a subtle mineral sensation, revealing the exceptional nobility and persistence of Pétrus.
