Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées 2009 — Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot
This Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées 2009 from Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot is a rare bottle from a discreet lieu-dit in Vosne-Romanée and from a domaine that has become one of the most sought-after in Burgundy. The wine offers a particularly refined reading of the 2009 vintage: ripe fruit, silky texture, dried rose perfume, candied cherry, red and black fruits, sweet spices, fine earth and a long, pure and delicate finish.
Jean-Yves Bizot, trained in geology before taking over the family domaine in 1994, works extremely small holdings in Vosne-Romanée. The wines are produced in tiny quantities, with a low-intervention approach and a search for transparency, perfume and texture. In the 2009 vintage, often rich and solar in Burgundy, Les Jachées retains surprising freshness, great precision and a refined rather than massive expression.
A Vosne-Romanée of emotion, more silky than demonstrative, more perfumed than powerful. The 2009 combines the generosity of the vintage with the precision of the Bizot style: ripe red fruits, fine black fruits, dried rose, Vosne spices, forest floor, delicate venison and fine minerality. The palate stands out for its balance, fine grain and weightless finish.
Terroir: Les Jachées, old vines and the finesse of Vosne-Romanée
The Les Jachées lieu-dit is located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Available sources describe a small vineyard situated between the village of Vosne and the D974 road, with very old vines for the 2009 vintage. This position gives a highly distinctive village wine, built less on power than on perfume, precision and the natural finesse of Pinot Noir.
The clay-limestone soils of Vosne-Romanée give the wine its balance between flesh, tension and minerality. In Les Jachées 2009, the terroir expresses itself through a combination of ripe fruit, fine spices, freshness and delicacy. The wine retains a deeply Vosne identity: dried rose, cherry, discreet black fruits, forest floor, fine earth, noble venison and sweet spices.
Terroir expression: Pinot Noir, old vines, clay-limestone soils, candied cherry, dried rose, black fruits, sweet spices, forest floor, fine earth and mineral freshness.

Expression of the 2009 vintage
The 2009 vintage in Burgundy is generally ripe, charming and generous. In the case of Bizot, however, Les Jachées retains remarkable freshness and finesse, with less solar density than one might expect from the year. The wine shows a very successful balance between fruit ripeness, silky texture, fine spices and mineral precision.
Today, this Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées 2009 is entering a seductive phase of maturity. It can be enjoyed for its patinated fruit, floral and spicy bouquet, supple texture and delicate charm. Careful opening and moderate aeration are recommended in order to preserve the wine’s perfume, palate finesse and airy finish.
In summary: a rare, silky and deeply refined Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées 2009, carried by old vines, Bizot’s confidential signature and remarkable freshness for the vintage.
Dominant aromas: dried rose, candied cherry, red cherry, delicate black fruits, sweet spices, thyme, forest floor, fine earth, noble venison, discreet graphite and a purely Vosne finish.
