Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau 2014 — Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau 2014 from Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe expresses an elegant, precise and aromatic side of one of the appellation’s most emblematic terroirs. Less sun-filled and massive than some of the great southern Rhône vintages, it seduces through finesse, energy and notes of red and dark fruits, pepper, garrigue and flowers.
Terroir: La Crau, a historic signature of Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The La Crau lieu-dit is inseparable from the style of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe. Its soils of rounded stones, clay and limestone give wines of structure, depth and length, capable of expressing Mediterranean warmth, mineral tension and the aromatic complexity of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The 2014 vintage offers a fresher and more nuanced reading of La Crau. The wine favours balance, fruit precision, floral notes and supple texture, with a less imposing structure but fine harmony. This is a Vieux Télégraphe built more on lift and freshness than on power.
