Terroir & Winemaking

The Puligny-Montrachet appellation (Côte de Beaune) rests on a foundation of limestone and marl soils, often very stony, which gives Chardonnay its hallmark clarity, tension, and minerality. Predominantly east / southeast exposures and moderate altitude allow for slow, even ripening, preserving freshness and aromatic precision.

The expression of terroir is supported by careful vinification: gentle pressing, controlled fermentations, and lees aging to enhance texture without masking the mineral backbone. The goal is balance—combining substance with energy—while integrating oak subtly to highlight complexity (hazelnut, fresh butter notes) rather than dominate.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Elegant and precise, with white flowers (hawthorn, acacia), citrus (lemon, grapefruit zest), and white-fleshed fruits (pear, apple), complemented by a chalky / stony nuance and a subtle touch of hazelnut.

Palate:
Lively and precise on the attack, evolving into a silky texture supported by a pronounced mineral backbone (chalk, flint). The fruit remains pure and focused, with a distinct saline edge that lengthens the wine.

Finish:
Long, fresh, and saline, with lingering citrus and mineral notes and a delicate return of nutty nuances (almond, hazelnut). Enjoy for its youthful vibrancy or cellar to gain complexity over time.
