Terroir & Parcels

Located at the southern tip of Burgundy, the Mâcon-Chaintre appellation rests on soils of Jurassic limestone, marl, and clay, part of the geological backbone of the Mâconnais. These terroirs give the wines their hallmark balance of roundness, mineral freshness, and aromatic depth. Maison Valette’s parcels, often planted with old vines, benefit from favorable exposures that allow full ripening while preserving natural acidity.

The domaine follows a living-soils philosophy close to organic farming. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation relies on indigenous yeasts, and extended aging in older barrels builds complexity without masking the fruit. Minimal intervention preserves the authentic expression of terroir.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Expressive and elegant, offering ripe pear, yellow apple, and citrus, layered with white flowers, fresh almond, and a subtle honeyed nuance.

Palate:
Broad and balanced, with an enveloping texture supported by a limestone backbone that brings tension and precision. Orchard fruit and ripe lemon flavors mingle with a light buttery note in a refined structure.

Finish:
Long and harmonious, marked by mineral freshness, a fine saline edge, and lingering notes of ripe fruit and gentle toast. A gastronomic Chardonnay capable of graceful aging.
