Description
Tissot — Arbois

Chardonnay “En Barberon” 2020 — A High-Altitude Ouillé Chardonnay of Purity and Mineral Precision

Terroir & Vintage

From a landmark parcel situated at 400 m altitude above Arbois, En Barberon benefits from a full southern exposure and a stony marl-limestone soil. This elevated terroir brings natural tension, marked minerality and a crystalline expression of Chardonnay.

The 2020 vintage, generous and sunny yet perfectly balanced in the Jura, delivers remarkable harmony between ripeness and freshness. Altitude plays a decisive role, preserving vibrancy and precision throughout the wine.

Winemaking

A classic ouillé Chardonnay (non-oxidative style), vinified and aged with meticulous attention to preserve purity and detail.

  • 12 months of élevage in barrels (15–20 % new).
  • Aged on fine lees.
  • No bâtonnage, to maintain tension and linearity.
  • Aimed at delivering a pure, precise and energetic profile.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Green apple, ripe citrus, linden blossom, wet chalk, fresh almond and soft butter. A bright, crystalline aromatic profile marked by the marl-limestone terroir.

Palate

A clean, precise attack followed by a compact, finely textured core. The balance between energy, ripeness and calcareous tension is superb. The long, saline finish displays a striking chalky minerality with perfectly integrated oak.

A vibrant, finely sculpted 2020—pure, linear and expressive: the contemporary benchmark of high-altitude Jura Chardonnay.
