Corton Grand Cru 2020 - Domaine Chandon de Briailles
A great Burgundy Grand Cru combining mineral depth, balance, and classic elegance
Terroir
Corton Grand Cru comes from the iconic Hill of Corton, located between Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Ladoix-Serrigny, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard is rooted in complex soils composed of hard limestone, marl, and stony scree, rich in mineral elements. This geological diversity, combined with an ideal exposure and moderate altitude, promotes slow, even ripening of Pinot Noir, resulting in wines of structure, depth, and outstanding aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Nose / Aromatics:
The nose opens with aromas of black cherry and blackberry, complemented by subtle smoky notes, hints of licorice, and a distinct crushed-stone minerality. The profile is refined, complex, and quietly expressive.
Palate / Structure:
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and well-balanced, with supple yet present tannins. A fresh acidity supports the ripe dark fruit, while a mineral backbone adds precision and tension. The texture is polished and harmonious, without excess power.
Finish:
The finish is long and persistent, marked by dark fruit, subtle earthy nuances, and a lasting stony character, illustrating the classic depth and elegance of Corton Grand Cru.
