Domaine Cécile Tremblay — Sensitivity and Intensity in the Côte de Nuits
One of Burgundy’s most coveted signatures, combining biodynamic precision with the sensuality of Pinot Noir.
Founded in 2003 by Cécile Tremblay, the estate originated from approximately 4 hectares of family vines passed down since 1921 from the Jayer–Noëllat lineage. Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, it now encompasses an exceptional mosaic of terroirs stretching across Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
From the outset, the vineyards were converted to organic farming with integrated biodynamic practices — herbal teas, light ploughing, natural grass cover, and work according to lunar cycles. While not highlighted on labels, these methods have been rigorously followed for nearly two decades.
An Exceptional Terroir Portfolio
With high-density planting (~12,000 vines/ha) and meticulous plot selection, Domaine Cécile Tremblay cultivates some of the most coveted appellations in the Côte de Nuits.

- Chapelle-Chambertin (0.36 ha, Les Gémeaux — 80-year-old vines)
- Échezeaux “Du Dessus”
- Clos de Vougeot (first vintage 2022 — approx. 2 barrels)
Premiers Crus
- Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru “Les Feusselottes” (~0.45 ha)

Village Appellations
- Morey-Saint-Denis “Très-Girard”
- Chambolle-Musigny “Les Cabottes”
- Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes
These old-vine parcels are tended with manual precision and exceptional care, producing low yields and profound expressions of place.
Natural Viticulture & Vinifications
- 100% hand-harvested grapes, meticulously sorted in the vineyard and winery
- Partial destemming (approx. 85–90% depending on cuvée and vintage)
- Fermentation in wooden vats, long macerations (3–4 weeks)
- Aging: 15–18 months in oak barrels, with 1/3 to 2/3 new oak depending on the wine
- No fining or filtration; bottling by gravity with minimal intervention
This gentle, patient approach yields fine-grained tannins, remarkable aromatic precision and elegant, textural wines.
Signature Style
Domaine Cécile Tremblay’s wines are defined by vibrant purity and textural sensuality, combining classic Pinot Noir finesse with unique depth.
- Nose: black cherry, blackberry, violets, fine spice, forest floor
- Palate: mineral tension, silky tannins, saline energy, remarkable length
- Grands Crus: deep density, satin texture, exceptional persistence — Chapelle-Chambertin is often described as “sensual and caressing”
Limited Production
Annual production ranges from 900 to 2,700 bottles per cuvée (e.g. Chambolle Feusselottes ~2,000 bottles; some Vosne 1er crus around 600–700). This rarity fuels worldwide demand and the domaine’s exceptional reputation among collectors.

Philosophy
Cécile Tremblay’s philosophy centers on expressing the soul of each terroir rather than chasing volume. Her work is defined by organic and biodynamic viticulture, low-intervention winemaking and long, careful élevage. Her wines are now among the rarest and most sought-after in Burgundy, prized for their balance between sensuality and depth.
