ROSES DE JEANNE — CELLES-SUR-OURCE
Artisan Champagnes & single-parcel expression from the Côte des Bar
Founded in 2000 in Celles-sur-Ource, at the heart of the Côte des Bar, Roses de Jeanne has become one of the most distinctive and influential domaines in Champagne. Created and shaped by Cédric Bouchard, the estate follows a radical, uncompromising philosophy: single-parcel cuvées, single variety, single vintage, extremely low yields, and a relentless pursuit of purity and terroir transparency. This approach has earned Roses de Jeanne a cult status among connoisseurs and top gastronomy, celebrated for its precision, depth, and unmistakable identity.
Terroirs & Kimmeridgian soils
Roses de Jeanne is built on a patchwork of small parcels planted on the Kimmeridgian soils of the Côte des Bar:
- limestone-rich subsoils filled with fossils,
- clay-limestone topsoils that bring finesse and tension,
- diverse exposures giving each cuvée a clearly defined identity.
The Côte des Bar offers a chalk-driven, more linear, more vertical expression compared to the northern Champagne zones — a dimension that Cédric Bouchard elevates through exceptionally meticulous viticulture.
Philosophy: purity, precision & zero compromise
The domaine embraces an artisanal, almost minimalist vision, where every intervention occurs only when strictly necessary. This ethos results in:
- no blending: one cuvée = one parcel, one grape, one vintage,
- extremely low yields — among the lowest in Champagne,
- highly selective harvesting at optimal ripeness,
- no dosage or minimal dosage,
- indigenous yeasts,
- gentle, slow vinifications,
- very limited intervention, with absolute respect for the wine.
The ultimate goal: an unadorned, crystalline, vertical expression of terroir.
Vinification: delicacy & micro-parcels
Micro-parcel vinification lies at the core of Roses de Jeanne. Each cuvée is crafted separately, with:
- ultra-gentle pressing,
- carefully controlled fermentation to maintain purity,
- extended ageing on fine lees,
- a meticulous bottling process resulting in exceptionally delicate bubbles.
The wines, intentionally free from heavy intervention, develop a subtle, fine, almost crystalline texture — the unmistakable signature of Roses de Jeanne.
Wine style
- extremely fine bubbles,
- a vertical, laser-focused tension,
- chiselled minerality,
- pure, floral, aerial aromatics,
- remarkable depth despite the delicacy,
- long ageing capacity, despite an apparent fragility.
These are connoisseur Champagnes: precise, silent, luminous — wines for those seeking the most intimate expression of terroir.
