Terroir & Winemaking

The Les Moriers lieu-dit lies on the northern slopes of Fleurie, one of the most delicate and perfumed crus of Beaujolais. Planted on steep hillsides composed of decomposed pink granite and sandy soils, the vineyards produce wines of finesse, lifted aromatics, and silky texture. This granitic terroir contributes a distinctive mineral backbone and vibrant freshness that define the character of the wine.

At Jules Desjourneys, viticulture is conducted with extreme precision and low yields to ensure optimal fruit concentration. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified with minimal intervention, often using whole clusters and indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place in carefully selected neutral barrels to preserve purity and terroir expression. The 2020 vintage, warm and generous, delivers ripe fruit balanced by freshness and structure, resulting in a Fleurie of both charm and aging potential.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Elegant and perfumed, revealing aromas of fresh raspberry, wild strawberry, and red cherry, layered with violet, peony, and subtle spice. Hints of crushed stone and dried herbs emerge with aeration.

Palate:
Silky and precise, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. The wine shows remarkable purity of red fruit, supported by a mineral backbone and a graceful, weightless texture.
