Terroir

Flaccianello della Pieve is Fontodi’s flagship wine, produced from 100% Sangiovese grown on the sunlit slopes of Panzano in Chianti Classico, in the heart of Tuscany’s renowned “Conca d’Oro” (Golden Basin). The vineyards are rooted in galestro (schistous marl) and limestone-clay soils, which deliver both intensity and a distinctive mineral backbone. The 2015 vintage, warm and superbly balanced, produced fruit of outstanding ripeness while retaining freshness and definition. In magnum, the wine’s evolution is even more harmonious, enhancing longevity and complexity over time.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Deep, expressive aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and wild berries, lifted by violet and rose notes, with hints of spice, tobacco, leather, and a subtle balsamic touch.

Palate & Finish:
The palate is powerful yet poised, with a dense, silky texture and fine-grained tannins that frame the wine beautifully.
