Percarlo 2016 — San Giusto a Rentennano, Magnum OWC
This Percarlo 2016 from San Giusto a Rentennano, offered here in magnum and in its original wooden case, embodies one of the most profound, pure and sought-after expressions of Tuscan Sangiovese. An emblematic cuvée of the estate, Percarlo is distinguished by its intensity, precision and ability to express the nobility of the Gaiole in Chianti terroir in a style that is powerful, vibrant and deeply elegant.
The 2016 vintage, remarkable in Tuscany, brings a rare combination of ripeness, freshness and balance. The wine unfolds notes of black cherry, Morello cherry, red plum, ripe raspberry, violet, dried rose, blond tobacco, fine leather, sweet spices, liquorice, warm earth, Mediterranean herbs and graphite. The magnum format encourages slower evolution and reinforces the collector appeal of this bottle.
A great Tuscan Sangiovese, profound, distinguished and intensely expressive. Percarlo 2016 combines the richness of ripe fruit with remarkable freshness, noble structure, velvety texture and a long spicy, floral and mineral finish. In magnum and original wooden case, it is a particularly compelling bottle for lovers of great ageworthy Italian wines.
Terroir: Gaiole in Chianti, altitude and Sangiovese energy
Located in the southern part of Chianti Classico, San Giusto a Rentennano benefits from high-altitude terroirs, stony soils and a climate that allows Sangiovese to preserve freshness, tension and aromatic precision. Percarlo comes from a rigorous selection of grapes, with a search for depth and balance that goes far beyond simple power.
Tasting notes

Flowers and spices: violet, dried rose, fine spices, liquorice, blond tobacco, delicate leather.
Terroir: warm earth, Mediterranean herbs, graphite, mineral freshness and a saline finish.
Expression of the 2016 vintage
The 2016 vintage in Tuscany is recognised for its exceptional balance between fruit ripeness, freshness, structure and precision. For Percarlo, this year gives a wine that is profound, energetic and beautifully proportioned, with very strong ageing potential. In magnum, evolution will be even slower, allowing the wine to gain complexity around notes of tobacco, fine leather, spices, forest floor, noble earth and time-polished red fruits.
In summary: a profound, distinguished and beautifully structured Percarlo 2016 in magnum OWC, driven by the greatness of the vintage, the purity of Sangiovese and the historic signature of San Giusto a Rentennano.
Food pairing: bistecca alla fiorentina, roast lamb, osso buco, game birds, truffle pasta, porcini risotto, aged pecorino or traditional Tuscan cuisine.
