Château d’Yquem 1947 — Sauternes
This Château d’Yquem 1947 embodies one of the most legendary expressions of Bordeaux’s great sweet wines. As the sole Premier Cru Supérieur of Sauternes, Yquem occupies a unique place through its extraordinary ability to combine richness, freshness, aromatic complexity and exceptional longevity.
The 1947 vintage, solar, rare and mythical, now offers the profile of a great mature wine: candied apricot, orange marmalade, fig, date, quince, candied exotic fruits, deep honey, saffron, beeswax, fine caramel, sweet spices, tea, blond tobacco, dried fruits, orange peel and a long, noble, enveloping and persistent finish.
A collector’s Yquem, deeply mature, sumptuous and contemplative. The richness of the 1947 vintage is expressed through a broad, time-polished and intensely complex texture, yet Yquem’s balance allows the wine to retain a rare sense of grace, freshness and aromatic nobility after several decades of evolution.
Terroir: Sauternes, noble rot and the grandeur of Yquem
Château d’Yquem benefits from an exceptional terroir, where gravel, clay and limestone soils encourage slow ripening, great concentration and the development of noble rot. This singularity gives birth to sweet wines of incomparable depth, capable of crossing time while developing a unique aromatic complexity, between candied fruits, spices, honey, wax, citrus and noble tertiary notes.
