Château Léoville Barton 2005 — Saint-Julien (imperial, 6 L)
This Château Léoville Barton 2005, offered here in imperial 6 L in original wooden case, embodies a masterful, classical and profoundly noble expression of Saint-Julien. An emblematic Second Growth of the Médoc, Léoville Barton is distinguished by its structure, poise, depth and remarkable ageing capacity. In the 2005 vintage, grand, concentrated and perfectly balanced, the wine unfolds an intense palette: cassis, blackberry, blueberry, black plum, black cherry, cedar, graphite, blond tobacco, liquorice, cocoa, fine spices, violet, pencil lead, noble leather, fresh earth and a long mineral finish.
Château Léoville Barton is one of the great historic references of Saint-Julien, recognised for a distinguished, structured and deeply Médocain style. The estate produces wines built for long ageing, marked by the nobility of Cabernet Sauvignon, the elegance of Merlot and the precision of classical ageing. The 2005 vintage, a Bordeaux year of great harmony between ripeness, freshness and structure, offers here a powerful, dense wine still destined for very long evolution. The imperial 6 L format encourages slower maturation, better preservation of freshness and a particularly sought-after collector dimension, further reinforced by the original wooden case.
A great Saint-Julien of structure, depth and classicism, where the power of the 2005 vintage remains carried by remarkable freshness and noble tannic architecture. The wine combines black fruits, cassis, cedar, graphite, tobacco, liquorice, cocoa, fine spices and pencil lead, with a broad, straight, dense and highly persistent palate. The imperial 6 L format in original wooden case reinforces its ageing potential, balance and collector character.
Terroir: Saint-Julien, deep gravel and Cabernet Sauvignon nobility
The terroir of Saint-Julien, in the heart of the Médoc, rests on deep, perfectly draining gravel rises that are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. These soils produce wines that are structured, elegant, profound and consistent, capable of combining power, aromatic finesse, freshness and very great longevity.
At Léoville Barton, the expression of Saint-Julien is defined by a firm frame, great straightness and classical depth. Cabernet Sauvignon brings cassis, cedar, graphite, structure and longevity, while Merlot completes the whole with flesh, suppleness and fruit. In 2005, the balance of the vintage brings together density, precision and harmony. In imperial, this structure develops even more slowly, preserving the wine’s tension and depth.
Terroir expression: Saint-Julien, Médoc, deep gravel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, cassis, blackberry, blueberry, black plum, cedar, graphite, blond tobacco, pencil lead and mineral freshness.
Léoville Barton signature: Bordeaux classicism, noble structure, deep fruit, straightness, precision, firm yet fine tannins, freshness, balance, very long persistence and exceptional ageing aptitude in large format.

With aeration, nuances of violet, noble leather, precious woods, fresh earth, fine spices, sweet pepper, light truffle and smoky notes may appear.
