Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2015 — Château de Puligny-Montrachet
The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2015 from Château de Puligny-Montrachet expresses one of the most renowned climats of the appellation. Set on a well-exposed limestone slope, Les Folatières produces Chardonnay wines that are broad, precise and deeply marked by the mineral elegance of Puligny.
The 2015 vintage brings ripeness, volume and generous texture, while preserving the freshness of the terroir. White flowers, ripe citrus, apple, pear, toasted hazelnut, fine butter and wet stone shape an elegant, balanced and persistent wine.
Terroir and winemaking
Les Folatières is the largest Premier Cru of Puligny-Montrachet. Located between 250 and 300 metres in altitude, it benefits from an eastern exposure and clay-limestone soils over shallow subsoils, favouring a Chardonnay expression that is ripe, tense and mineral.
The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, harvested by hand. Ageing lasts around 17 months, including 6 months in stainless steel tanks, with oak ageing and around 30% new barrels. This approach preserves fruit precision while adding texture and complexity.
Tasting notes
Appearance: bright pale gold, luminous, with gradual evolution.
Nose: floral and precise, with white flowers, apple, pear, ripe citrus, toasted hazelnut and subtle buttery notes. With air, nuances of wet stone, almond and delicate spice emerge.
Palate: broad, elegant and balanced, with fine substance and well-integrated acidity. The finish is long, saline and mineral, carried by the limestone tension of the climat.

The 2015 vintage and service
In Burgundy, 2015 produced white wines that are ripe, expressive and textural. In Puligny-Montrachet, balance comes from the ability of great limestone terroirs to preserve tension, precision and freshness beneath the richness of the vintage.
This Premier Cru can be served today after gradual opening, while still retaining fine presence. Serve at around 11 to 12°C, in large glasses, with measured aeration to preserve its aromatic elegance and mineral finish.
Key points: an elegant and mineral Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2015, rated up to 93 points, combining vintage ripeness, breadth on the palate and limestone precision.
Food pairings: lobster, turbot with beurre blanc, sole meunière, seared scallops, Bresse chicken with cream, sweetbreads, vol-au-vent, mature cheeses or aged Comté.
