Château Simone – Palette Blanc 2022

A truly distinctive Provençal white, combining richness, limestone freshness, and aromatic complexity, grown on a unique terroir at the foot of Montagne Sainte-Victoire.

Terroir & Winemaking

Located in Meyreuil, near Aix-en-Provence, the vineyards of Château Simone lie on limestone and clay-limestone scree soils formed by the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. These poor, rocky, and perfectly drained soils give the wine its elegant structure, mineral freshness, and remarkable aging potential — a rarity for southern French whites.

The traditional blend — led by Clairette, supported by Grenache Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Bourboulenc, and a touch of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains — is vinified with great care. Fermentation in large foudres and barrels, followed by extended aging on fine lees, builds texture, depth, and complexity while preserving the wine’s natural balance and terroir expression.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Complex and refined, with aromas of pear, ripe apple, and quince, layered with candied citrus, white flowers, and subtle notes of almond, honey, and garrigue herbs.

Palate:
Broad and structured, balanced by remarkable limestone freshness. The texture is rich yet precise, revealing flavors of yellow fruits, ripe citrus, dried fruits, and a delicate saline note at mid-palate.

Finish:
Long and persistent, with notes of almond, warm stone, and fine honey. With age, the wine develops noble truffle nuances and a gently oxidative complexity.
